This vertical control mark is located near the Roosevelt Arch in Gardiner, Montana. The cap is located about 75 feet east of center of the Roosevelt Arch in a 3 by 3 foot outcropping of bedrock. The cap was set by the National Geodetic Survey in 1983 and was marked D565.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1983 0.3 KM (0.2 MI) SOUTH FROM GARDINER. 0.3 KM (0.2 MI) WEST ALONG MAIN STREET FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 89 IN GARDINER, AT THE ENTRANCE TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, IN THE CENTER OF A 3 BY 3 FT EXPOSED AREA OF OUTCROPPING BEDROCK PROJECTING 0.3 METER (1.0 FT) ABOVE THE GROUND, 23.3 METERS (76.4 FT) EAST OF THE CENTER OF THE ARCHWAY ENTRANCE TO THE PARK, 17.4 METERS (57.1 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST END OF THE ROCK WALL, AND 14.4 METERS (47.2 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK ENTRANCE ROAD. THE MARK IS 0.3 M ABOVE THE ROAD.
