The town's people are depicted in this mural as well as representation from the sister city in Shikaoi, Japan.
The town's brochure describes this mural as:
"The people shown in this mural, past and present, are from Stony Plain and area. Their ethnic backgrounds are represented by the colourful flags in honour of the town’s multiculturalism and reflects the relationship of The Town of Stony Plain with its sister town: Shikaoi, Japan. From left to right: Andrew Anderson (Sweden); Alexis Wabamun (Kees-kee-chee-chi); a Stony Indian Chief; Philippine Strassburger (Germany); Ross Newell (USA); Stephen Harry Kettle (England); Otto Wilken (Stony Plain area); Hughie MacKinnon (Scotland); Julia Kotcherofsky-Kulak (Ukraine/Russia); Jackie Gregorwich (representing “pioneers of tomorrow”), Wong York (first Chinese in Stony Plain); Eva Armbruster (Austria- Hungary); Henry Oppertshauser Sr. (Germany)."
The images are larger than life and are excellent likenesses of the people they depict.
