Here at Dungeness is the most southerly station on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. The flat, shingle expanse may be forgiven for its excellent camouflage of this scenic railway.

The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway opened in July, 1927. It is 13.5 miles long and was once known as 'The World's Smallest Public Railway'. It was created by Captain Howey and built by Henry Greenly. The rail is a 15 inch gauge and has one-third full size steam and diesel engines.
At Dungeness there is a small station cafe and it is from here that the railway runs to the north east. It passes through Romney Sands, New Romney, Romney Warren Halt, St Mary's Bay, Dymchurch and Hythe.
Hythe is where the terminus station is located with a gift shop, whilst New Romney is the the location of the railway's headquarters. A famous model railway exhibition can be seen here at New Romney. Dymchurch is one of the stations offering access to the sandy beaches along this stretch of the coast. Whilst the small station of Romney Warren Halt gives access to the Kent Wildlife Trust's Romney Marsh Visitor Centre.
On offer are Steam Driving Experience Days including a standard, advanced and taster course. Footplate Rides are also offered for a 28 mile full round trip or less. The railway also makes an ideal venue for celebrations including weddings, birthdays and meetings. Or you can just enjoy the ride, whatever you choose.
