A part of the true Canadian highway system. Before cars before wagons we in Canada had.... Canoes. This is a multiple stage portage that was used as part of the path to christianize the native population, to collect furs, and to look for the way to the pacific ocean. When you read the plaque you will see a short list of Famous travellers who have used the La Vase portage to navigate Ontario.
There is a parking lot available with a map that shows the full route of the portage, take some time to hike the first stage, and experience early travel.
