1885, first as a wooden tower on a height of 1,015 m - for comparable towers - built the highest point in the then German Reich, he was replaced in 1906 by a 25 meter high observation tower of granite and reinforced concrete.
After the Second World War, he had several names. After 1945, the Bismarck Tower was first after the Polish Prime Minister during the Second World War, General Wladyslaw Sikorski's Tower, later renamed Mieczyslaw-Orlowicz Tower. Both names were never enforced, since the tower fell into disrepair over the decades and was no longer maintained.
With the help of EU funding under the Interreg IIIa program, from 2005, planning and redevelopment of the tower gradually implemented. In a first phase renovation of the tower was first opened back in 2008, 2008-2010, in the second phase gradually made ??the outdoor facilities. [1]. His name is today - neutral - "Wieza Widokowa na Wielkiej Sowie" (in German literally "tower on the High owl").
The tower is now publicly accessible except for the winter months. On the ground floor there is a kiosk on the first floor at 14 meters height, public access to the interior of the tower, is an exhibition on the history and restoration of the tower.
The tower offers panoramic views of the Giant Mountains, the Sleza (Zobten), the villages Dzierzoniów, Pieszyce and Bielawa, the boiler and Glatzer, in good weather, the view to Wroclaw.
