The Teton Valley area of Idaho was originally part of Bingham County which was established in 1883. In 1894, Fremont County was established from Bingham County. In 1913, Madison County was created from Fremont County and finally in 1915, Teton County was created from the eastern part of Madison County with Driggs as the county seat. The two-story brick Teton County Courthouse was built in 1924 by contractor Charles Zollinger and was designed by architect C. A. Sundberg. On September 22, 1987, the Teton County Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In early 2010, the county moved into a new courthouse building and the old courthouse now stands vacant.
