Trees were planted in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ceylon, and Pakistan in honour of their new Queen.
With the coronation of George VI, Queen Elizabeth II's father, acorns shed from oaks in Windsor Great Park, around Windsor Castle, were shipped around the Commonwealth and planted in parks, schoolyards, cemeteries, and private yards to grow into what are known as Royal Oaks or Coronation Oaks.
