The 'Eastry Windmill', or more correctly 'Upper Mill' in Eastry,  was a 3 storey smock mill built on a single - story brick base sometime around 1770. Worked by wind power until 1913 when the fantail and sweeps were removed, it continued with the use of a suction gas engine until 1949 and then an electric motor until 1959 when it's business was transferred to Sandwich and the mill machinery was removed. Now a Grade II listed private residence,  please respect it as such.
