This picture of a fireplace is in an unlikely location, San Diego, usually a rather warm and sunny spot.

When I took the photos, there was an interesting accessory next to the utility box, which may or may not have been a coincidence. Somebody had left a bunch of unwanted household items on the street corner, and the only one not yet taken was a recliner chair that would be just perfect to pull up in front of a real fireplace on a cold winter's night.

Although the fireplace may not actually generate any comforting warmth, it is just outside of a great Vietnamese noodle-soup restaurant (which is already a Waymark) that serves warm, comforting food.

The painting of utility boxes in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego is sponsored by the Mira Mesa Town Council (a volunteer/business organization) and has been spearheaded by the Mira Mesa High School art department. See (visit link) for more information.

There are photos of about 30 of the other Mira Mesa utility boxes, some with info about the artists, at (visit link) .
