"With the most advanced sewage disposal well in Europe - every day.
The first stage of a sewage treatment plant is the mechanical wastewater treatment. It can be separated by screens, grit chambers and primary sedimentation tanks or settling coarse ingredients, sand and settleable materials. In the second stage, the biological wastewater treatment. Here microorganisms are brought into contact with the remaining, readily soluble wastewater constituents. The microorganisms live on the degradation of organic compounds increase and are (activated sludge). Based on the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), the cleaning effect of such treatment plants is 90 - 95%. In further steps, the remaining 5 - 10% cleaned and removed the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds.
