This nice park is appropriately sized to the community it serves. It has the requisite ballfield, children's play structures, and lots of grass for just relaxing and having an old-fashioned picnic. There are a number of monuments and veterans memorials, a statue of a Basque shepherd representing the Basque heritage of many locals, and a California Trail Marker with several interpretive panels.
The park also has several unique features not typically found at most city parks. On the southwest corner of the Park is a reconstruction of Sherman Station, an important service point on the Old West stage line through the area. The main building of the Station houses a small museum and the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Information Center. At the southeast corner of the Park stands the Northeastern Nevada Museum, a must see for anyone interested in the natural and cultural history of the Elko region.
