The chapel was constructed in 1953 largely with stones taken from what was left of the first chapel built on the island in 1740 at at Pointe-du-Moulin. The chapel was the combined work of cure Valerien carriere and Mecene Roger Maillet. The roof construction follows that of the earlier chapel.
