The title “Saxby Gale” was given to a storm of hurricane proportions that arrived in the Bay of Fundy on Oct 4, 1869 following an earlier prediction of the storm by Lieutenant Saxby of the Royal Navy.
Saxby had sent a letter in Oct 1868 to several British newspaper, with his prediction that an intense storm would be experienced (somewhere in the world) approximately a year future, due to the upcoming alignment of the sun and moon.
