McSorley's Old Ale House was established approximately 150 years ago and you will not see a new structure here. Be prepared to go back in time as you enter this tavern that serves fine food and fine ale. A lot of history is associated within these walls so be sure to read some of the history on the various wall areas. A lot of famous people have entered these doors including Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and John Lennon. The tavern is located on 7th street East, in the East Village portion of Manhatton. Photographs are allowed and the structure suffered no damage during the storm of October 2012. To show that you were here, either photograph yourself with the old inscription behind the bar, or tell me what the phrase says. Be sure to check out the wood burning stove that operates during winter days. Only one brew has been served over the course of 150 years, and that is an ale. We had lunch here October 2012.
