Bear Lake is Utah’s second largest freshwater lake – known for its deep turquoise-colored water. It covers 71,000 surface acres; has 48 miles of shoreline (21 miles long and 7 miles wide) and straddles the Utah/Idaho border. Bear Lake is one of Utah’s premier recreation areas, attracting water sports enthusiasts in the summer and ice fishermen and snowmobilers in the winter.
"Bear Lake is often called the Caribbean of the Rockies for its intense turquoise blue water. As visitors catch their first glimpse of the lake, they marvel at its color and wonder what makes the lake so blue. Sitting on one of its many white, sandy beaches, you can imagine yourself on your own little island. Each season of the lake lends its own characteristic to the lake. Year around, enjoy a number of recreational and cultural activities." (
