Honors the Searcy & Moore gun factory, 1862-1863. Marker erected in 1991 by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Greensboro area.

This marker, on the east side of US-220, north of Greensboro, is appropriately located at a driveway leading to a military surplus store. The marker says that 100 rifles were manufactured for the State of North Carolina. Another historic source says the factory turned out 500 guns. Perhaps only 100 were sold to the State?
