If you ever wondered what it would be like to time travel back to any downtown city in 1900, then Easton is your vehicle. Not much has changed here in the last one hundred years as the concrete landscape has remained the same.

EASTON (271 alt., 34,468 pop.), situated where the Lehigh River and Bushkill Creek flow into the Delaware, faces Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Like Allentown and Bethlehem, the city is bisected by the Lehigh River, and much more of its area looks down upon the calley floor from the heights of College Hill and Mount Ida. --- Pennsylvania: A Guide to the Keystone State, 1940, p. 209

Easton is a waymarker's dream if you are into history, old sites, the NRHP and anything else smell, old and dated. The main drag is Northampton Street. Here, there are examples of Beau Arts buildings, Limestone banks with complicated reliefs, vintage theaters and all sorts of architectural styles, some clashing, but al put together, make up this whole wonderful city. The Crayola Factory Tour is at Center Square, the jewel and main attraction of Easton. Parking is available at metered spots along the curb.
