This war memorial is in the form of a teak crucifix on a Portland stone plinth. The figure of Christ is gilded. The memorial is surrounded by iron railings and there are two Portland stone plaques on the wall of the church behind listing the names of the fallen. The memorial is located adjacent to the Church of the Annunciation, Bryanston Street, Marylebone, London. This is a Grade II* listed church.
In 2007/8 English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation offered a grant of £2,660 towards work to clean the plinth and re-point any open joints, clean and repair the wooden cross and clean the gilding.
The memorial was dedicated around 1920. The design is by Sir Walter Tapper, a British architect known for his Gothic Revival churches, including the Church of the Annunciation, built in 1912.
