The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway built this structure as their Giddings freight depot. A sign on the building indicates it was built in 1906. It originally had the usual large wooden loading dock on the back side, but that was removed, and the building, which has been restored now serves as a museum as part of the Rural Texas Tourism Center. There is also a mural on the side of the depot that is a railroad scene showing former Giddings citizens that used the railroad.
