Historical plaque and large pink granite rock near the Texas Rural Tourism Center in Giddings. The sign reads:

These Texas pink granite rocks
were some of the many such rocks
that shook off the flat cars of the
H & TC Railroad when they were
being transported from Granite
Mountain in Burnet County
through Giddings enroute to be
used in the building of the
Galveston sea wall which was
started in 1902 and finished in 1904.
The same pink granite stone was
used in the building of the State
Capitol of Texas. These rocks have
been on the railroad right of way
in Giddings for all these years
