Efter tre sæsoner lukkede Drive In Bio i 1963.
Drive In Bio in Lynge has three "theatres" - ie. three screens - shows movies under the open sky every night from Easter until the last Saturday in September. In total there is room for 800 cars in the three "theatres", located in a former gravel pit in Nymølle between Slangerup and Farum.
The history behind: Drive In Bio by Lynge was established in 1961 by Mogens Fisker, who was inspired by the American drive-in movie theaters. Drive In Bio is the second oldest drive-in movie theater in Europe. After three seasons Drive In Bio closed in 1963. Drive In Bio reopened in the summer of 1966 and has shown films in the open every summer since then.
Repertoire: Drive In Bio by Lynge is a "premiere cinema" and can be compared with the Palads movie theatre in Copenhagen. The repertoire typically consists of great American "blockbusters" like action movies and comedies that primarily attracts a younger audience. But Drive In Bio also shows films for a more mature audience. Narrow and artistic films are, however, not shown in Drive In Bio. On the other hand Drive In Bio from time to time hosts special outdoor events in connection with premieres of new American epic films.
Playing Hours: Playing hours in Drive In Bio are changing continuously during the season, as it obviously must be dark before the audience can see movies. The repertoire, playing hours and directions can be found on the Drive In Bios website.
Prices: The prices in the Drive In Bio match the prices of cinemas in Copenhagen.
