Founded in the early 1300's by a wealthy family as civic hospital funded by donations and the proceeds from a winery, it continues to this day. Destroyed on March 16, 1945 by British fire bomb attack, it was rebuilt after the war. This blue plaque located in an alcove near one of the entrances gives a brief history of the Bürgerspital.
