Located just outside of Fannin, Texas, this site is where Col. Fannin surrendered his army following the battle Coleto Creek in 1836.

Two days after Col. Fannin and his courageous army of Texans surrendered here and marched to nearby Goliad, they were executed under orders from Gen. Santa Anna. In 1914 the State of Texas established this memorial to those brave Texans who gave their lives for the cause of freedom.
