Built between 1868 and 1870, this one and one-half story house was built for Judge Legrand J.C. Duncan, a Tennessee native who arrived in Jacksonville around 1855 and by 1859 was serving as county sheriff. He became a judge and ultimately retired in Jacksonville, enjoying gardening. At some point after 1885, Hiero K. Hanna, a New York native and attorney, purchased the house. Hanna served as district attorney and later as a circuit court judge. After Hanna's death in 1910, his son Herbert and family continued to live in the Hanna House for more than 50 years. Located across from the Britt Gardens, today the house is listed for vacation rentals.
