Key Summit isn't the highest in Fiordland, but getting to the top is recognized as one of the best day walks in this part of New Zealand. And the 360 degree panoramic view from here is fantastic!

The walk is suitable for all ages and gains about 400 metres on the well-travelled path, which for much of its length uses the Routeburn Track, one of NZ's Great Walks. About 2/3 of the way along the Key Summit Path branches off.

At the scenic overlook there is a small pond, nature boardwalk and orientation table as well as a full panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. For more information see NZ's Department of Conservation webpage here (http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/fiordland/northern-fiordland/routeburn-track-key-summit-track).
