The memorial is record 47299 at the War Memorials Archive website. The following details are taken from that record:

The memorial stands about 20 feet in height and is made from pink granite and is maintained in good condition. The names and inscriptions are carved into a square-set base. Names are listed by Battalion and then by manner of death. The names of major battles are included on plaques on each side of the base.

The inscription reads:

In memory of
the Officers
Non-Commissioned Officers and Men
of the Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own
Yorkshire Regiment
killed in action and died of wounds or disease
during the South African War
1899 - 1902

The memorial that, was unveiled on 24th May 1904, carries 137 names.
