Built between 1883 and 1886, l’église de Méaudre is dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It replaced the old church totally destroyed by a fire caused by lightning on Aug. 16, 1877.

Après l'incendie qui a complètement ravagé l'église le 16 août 1877, les Méaudrais récupèreront environ 600 kg de métal qu’ils enverront chez un fondeur pour faire fabriquer une remplaçante aux deux cloches disparues. Cette cloche sera suspendue, en 1878, à l’ormeau du cimetière en attendant la reconstruction de l’église.
Lors de la construction de la nouvelle église (1883-1886), un don des Chartreux a permis le financement d’un clocher élancé dans lequel on installe la cloche de l’ormeau ainsi qu’une cloche neuve, encore plus imposante avec ses 1 615 kg.
