On the south west corner of a bank building in Makarska is a circular vertical south facing sundial declining about 3° east.

This dial is circular about 60 cm in diameter on a square piece of Brac marble with hours marked in Roman numerals from VI (6 am) to XV (3 pm). It is corrected for daylight savings time as the vertical meridian is at 11 am. The inscription is “NAJBOLJEM TURISTICKOM MJESTU U ANKETI RADIO ZAGREB U 1981 GODINI TURISTICKI SAVEZ HRVZTSKE” or “Best Tourist Places in Radio Zagreb polls in 1981 by the Tourist Association of Croatia”. The gnomon is bent significantly perhaps 30° from the meridian.
