Spirit of Light is a 28' high by 20' long allegorical sculpture that symbolizes the electrical age. A winged female figure is wearing a helmet and symmetrically fashioned gown. She has her arms outstretched 90 degrees to her body and her legs form a vertical column.
The sculpture was fabricated by the architectural firm of Bley and Lyman and installed near the top of the central tower of the Niagara Mohawk Power Building in 1932. It was one of the first uses of a stainless steel sculpture for exterior design.
