A natural spring that was once the water supply of the small market town of Settle in Yorkshire. The spring comes from the towering Castleberg which looms over the town from the east. It enters the first of three stone troughs under a wooden hatch. The troughs are separated to allow drinking before washing. The water leaves the third grating under a metal hatch and is directed into the town sewers. The water is crystal clear and the troughs appear to be at least 2 feet deep.
The well can be reached by walking up Well Hill Close from Chapel Street or by walking down Well Hill from Castleberg Lane.
