Sartoris Block
This corner is the site of Blairmore's first commercial building, constructed in 1901 by real estate investor William A. Beebe. At various times this site housed the Blairmore Cafe (Club Cafe), Union Bank, municipal office and jail, the Pass Daily Herald newspaper and more.
In 1935 Charles Sartoris (1886-1975), a successful entrepreneur with many business interests, cleared this site and erected the Sartoris Block as the new home of Blairmore Motors. The Sartoris Block combined his car dealership, truck sales, gas pumps and auto service and repair centre under one roof. This prominent building was the most visible symbol of the many business successes of "Poor Charlie". Although the corner of this building has been filled in, the original 1935 facade is still visible along 129 Street.
