Buildings and Equipement:
Two domes and an attached classroom building, made possiable as a collaborative effort between Jasper County and the Des Moines Astronomical Society. The domes main scopes are a 16inch 'Newtonian' and a 16inch Meade Reflector. There are also pads outside for smaller portable telescopes.
Viewing:
There are number of public viewing events during the spring, summer and fall months (and even into winter!). Upcoming events can be seen on the DMAS
Events page.
Visit Instructions:Note the time of day of your visit, and your own photo of your favorite part of the observatory. This might be the view from the observatory, picture of your favorite building or favorite exhibit. (Be mindful of flash photography rules!)
