Rishikesh is a city in Dehradun district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as The Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas and Yoga Capital of the World. It is a holy city for Hindus and a famous centre of pilgrimage. Rishikesh catapulted to Western fame when the Beatles dropped by for a visit to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in 1968.
The upper wall painting depicts a man face with a view of Rishikesh from Lakshman Jhula bridge underneath it. The lower wall probably shows a tree with branches and/or roots.
According to Rahul Chauhan information on his Facebook site, the title of this mural could be "Self Portrait.....When There Is No Self".
I was in Rishikesh with a group of Canadians in November 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Northern India.
