The Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1944. In 1996, it and the other fire departments of Halifax County were amalgamated to form the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service. Their fire hall is relatively new, with four overhead doors, behind which, we assume, are four pieces of apparatus.
Their apparatus roster includes:
1987 Ford C / Phoenix pumper (Sold to Upper Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department)
1980 Chevrolet pumper (625/1000)
1976 Scot / Atlantic Fire Apparatus tanker (300/1800)
