There is so much to look at on the amazing Gothic Christ Church Gate that it's easy to miss the date of construction inscribed under the Tudor Coats of Arms over the entry, especially since it's in latin.
The inscription reads as follows:
"Hoc Opus Constructum est Anno Domini Millesimo Quingentesimo Decimo Septimo"
Translated, it means:
"This work was built in the seventeenth year of the Lord one thousand five hundred"
