In Keeseville, within Ausable Chasm, is this rickety pedestrian suspension bridge spanning the chasm walls.
Ausable Chasm is a tourist attraction off I-87 and about 15 miles south of Plattsburgh. It is along Route 9 - look for a sign at a bridge over the Ausable River.
The visitor center is on one side of the river. There you can purchase tickets to either walk through the chasm or take one of the other packages. To walk on the bridge, you need to purchase the Adventure Trail. However, to see the bridge, the regular admission to walk the Chasm is enough ($17 in 2016). Get a map before you go.
Once you are walking along the rim of the chasm, at a junction, take the trail that descends into the chasm. Walk along the trail to the bridge, which connects to the trail. Note that this trail involves stairs and walking along the canyon wall - not for everyone.
The bridge is a 'classic' swing suspension bridge. It has two cables that support the planks, and two more that provide the cable support. Cable strands are wrapped around the bottom and top cables on either side.
