Abraham Philipp Schuldt (* April 9, 1807 in Hamburg, Germany, † February 29, 1892) was a businessman and founder in Hamburg.
Abraham Philipp Schuldt was born on 9 April 1807 in Hamburg as the son of the merchant Joachim Michael Schuldt and his wife Catharina Agneta Schuldt born Kryck. The father was sole proprietor of the company J. C. Haack & Schuldt, a commission and forwarding business, which mainly devoted itself to importing Russian grain.
On January 14, 1887, Schuldt made his will, and decreed that all his property should be liquidated and used to establish a foundation named after him. Literally: "The foundation is intended to set up small apartments consisting of two to three rooms, the forecourt and the kitchen". As tenants, respectable and unscrupulous people with small incomes were provided. This was in contrast to other foundations that provided cheap or rent-free housing for widows, unmarried women without a job, old and disabled. Two-thirds of the building costs should be paid out of the foundation's assets, the last third of which was to be borne by mortgages or the issuing of bonds. The interest for this, as well as all fees, administrative costs and repairs should be contested from the rental income. The Abraham Philipp Schuldt Foundation was founded on 28 August 1891 and exists today.
