This plaque is located at the northwest corner of Ross Avenue and N Olive Street in downtown Dallas.
The sign reads as follows:
"ROSS AVENUE
Ross Avenue was named for the Ross brothers, Andrew J. And William, who came to Dallas in 1866 and began opening Ross Avenue in 1868. Andrew lived at one end, near town, and Colonel William had a farm at the other end near Greenville Avenue. Ross Avenue was the first "paved" street outside the business district. It had five different paintings in its first 55 years: (1) Macadam (2) Bois D'Arc blocks (2) Tar and gravel (4) Asphalt (5) Concrete. In early decades the street was so uneven and twisting Dallas sites called it, in derision, "Ross Trail" and it was not completely straightened until 1927."
Group that erected the marker: The Trammell Crow company
