This plaque commemorates the contributions and leadership of Representative Jerry E. Hinshaw, whose
distinguished career benefited Tontitown, Washington and Benton Counties, and the State of Arkansas.

Hinshaw served eight terms as a Republican in the Arkansas House of Representatives during the tenures of
Governors Bill Clinton (both terms), Frank White, Jim Guy Tucker, and Mike Huckabee.
He served as president of the Arkansas Poultry Association, the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, the Arkansas
Thoroughbred Association, the Springdale Housing Authority, and board member of the First State Bank of Springdale.
Hinshaw was instrumental in establishing the Arkansas Welcome Center in Siloam Springs, the first bank in Tontitown
and its Area Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association Headquarters in Little Rock.
In 1986, he authored "Call The Roll: A History of the First 150 Years of the Arkansas Legislature".
Hinshaw ran a cattle farm, Rocking Chair Ranch, two miles south of this marker, with his wife Betty and
four children: Sunny, Cathryn, Ross and Dawn. Jerry was the first to import Charolais cattle into the state in 1961.
He was honored in 2002 for his service to the University of Arkansas Department of Animal Sciences.
