Ross Cemetery has been virtually unknown, even though it sits on the south edge of historic Pecan Grove Cemetery. It was an area reserved for African Americans in a time when even cemeteries were segregated.
The cemetery at this time, is best accessed from its entrance at the south edge of Pecan Grove Cemetery, although it appears that a road to the south is being restored and may be available for use at the time you visit.
Ross Cemetery has 1035 burials at this time. Burials appear through all the decades of the 20th Century, with only a few since 2000.
WFAA TV station in Dallas aired a story in May of 2017 telling how a local veterans group took on the project of cleaning up and restoring this historic cemetery. That story can be found in Waymark WMVQZ3 under the news articles category (See "Nearest Waymarks" link below).
