This menhir, reputed as being the tallest single standing stone in the Iberian peninsular. It stands at over 7 metres tall and 1.25 mts across.
The function of the standing stone is unclear though it may have had religious significance.
It´s located in the Alentejo, 10 km north of Castelo de Vide, in the Portalegre district.
The given coordinates will take you to a parking near the menhir. You´ll have to take a dirt road to get there but there´s no need of a 4x4.
The all area is very rich in this kind of monuments.
There are thousands of them in the region and, in a couple of miles around this one you´ll find more than 50.
Our advice is that you go to the Tourist Office in Castelo de Vide to get information about this sites.
