"This old locomotive bell was given to the students in 1955/54 by the faculty association as a symbol of Freedom of communication. The ringing of the bell brought together faculty and students for the town hall meeting, where ideas and discussions pertinent to the college community were exchanged.
Originally dedicted May 1957 to veterans who served during World War II, it was restored and re-dedicated on December 14, 1983 as a symbol of communication and good will between student and faculty. "
