The Montrose Place Addition, a street car suburb of Houston modeled after the 'private places' that had been developed in St. Louis, was developed by John W. Link's Houston Land Company in 1911. The following year, John Link built this extravagant Craftsmen mansion for his family and as a model of the types of homes to be built on Montrose Boulevard.
The University of St. Thomas bought the house in 1947. Minor alterations were made to the interior, and the house was used as the university’s first classrooms and offices. Today the house holds the admissions office for St. Thomas.
