Unfortunately the Foundation Stone is made of sandstone, which is known for the deterioration of engravings by weathering. The inscription reads:
THIS STONE
Was Laid by
THE HON. Mr JUSTICE [KIRBY]
23rd FEB [1899]
The church is built of locally made, dark-brown bricks, in a Revival Gothic styling with thinner brick buttressing on the outside, and pointed arched windows. There is a square Bell Tower on the northwestern end, with bi-coloured crenellations on top, and three arched, louvred openings at the height of the gallery.

[I had the opportunity to take a 'walk through' with the new minister, as I was 'game enough' to knock his door, to ask a few questions!]
