Wickenburg was founded in 1865, and as with many western towns of the era, law and order was an occasional occurrence. With little government structure and no resources for buildings, miscreants were chained to an old tree until justice could be served. By 1909 the community had stabilized to the point where this hall and jail were constructed. The building is in a Neo colonial style, made of brick on a concrete foundation. It has also been used by the town firefighters and as a senior center. The bars have been removed.
