In Randolph, at the intersection of Main Street, North Street and Union Street, is this Civil War Memorial.
The monument is in front of Stetson Hall, and is easily visible from the intersection. I'm making the assumption that the entire assembly of cannons and central sculpture, not just the sculpture itself.
The monument is an area with an assembly of items. The central item is a bronze statue on a pillar. On either side are cannon shapes on pillars. Further out are piles of cannon balls.
The central figure is the image of a Union Soldier, walking. The soldier bears a gun, held at an angle.
According to one web site, this statue is called, "The Skirmisher." It was designed by Frederick Kohlhagen and was cast by Gorham manufacturing Company. The pillar has the following words on the front:
"In Memory of Our Soldiers and Sailors
1861 - 1865"
On one of the pillars to a cannon, the text, "Grand Army of the Republic" is one side, and "Dedicated 1911" on the back. In the ground, nearby, is the following text:
"Town of Randolph, Massachusetts
As we re-dedicate these Civil War Monuments - we leave this time capsule in the hope that our history will always be worth remembering
November 2011 November 2065
(sealed) (Unsealed)"
Also on the face are names of "The Cannon Committee"
