To: ALL of Alberta and the People of Battle River County

The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Al Gore and the Members of the International Panel on Climate Change of which Dr. Schnell was a member.

Dr. Schnell was born in Castor, Alberta and his B.Sc. was earned at the University of Alberta. At the time of receiving the Nobel Prize, he was Deputy Director, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Earth System Research Laboratory, Global Monitoring Division in Boulder, Colorado. He still holds that position today. The office monitors the earth’s atmospheric composition related to climate forcing, ozone, and surface radiation.
