Bertha von Suttner was a member of the Austrian association "Die Flamme", which propagated cremation. She promoted the construction of the first German crematorium in Gotha and ordered in her will that her body be transferred to Gotha and burned there. The urn with its ashes is kept in the Columbarium in the crematorium Gotha.

Bertha Sophia Felicita Freifrau von Suttner, née Countess Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau, pseudonyms: B. Oulot, Someone (* 9 June 1843 in Prague; † 21 June 1914 in Vienna), was an Austrian pacifist, peace researcher and writer. She was the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905.

She wrote the book High Life in 1886, in which she thematized respect for man and his free decision-making power.
In the autumn of 1889, at the age of 46, she published the pacifist novel Die Waffen nieder! which caused a sensation and made Bertha von Suttner one of the most prominent representatives of the peace movement.
On September 3, 1891, Bertha von Suttner, in an article in the Neue Freie Presse, demanded the founding of an "Austrian Society of Friends of Peace" with the words: "Therefore it is necessary that wherever peace supporters exist, they publicly profess to be peace supporters and participate in the work according to the standard of their powers".
