Driesh, from the Gaelic, dris, meaning bramble or thorn bush, is a Scottish Munro of 3,108 feet or 947 metres high lying above the Angus glens of Clova, Prosen, and Doll in the eastern Grampian Mountains.
The mountain is usually climbed from Glen Doll in conjunction with Mayer, the adjoining mountain two miles to the west. Both mountains are regarded as twins but Driesh is less shapely and more rounded. The mountain is noted for its corries, especially Winter Corrie which lies to the north-east of the summit. The summit itself is relatively level and is marked by a round stone shelter with an Ordnance Survey trig pillar inside.
STEEPNESS: A steep pull up the Kilbo Path from Glen Doll which takes a manageable slanting route up the hillside to the col between Driesh and Mayer. From here it is initially steep but eases on the approach to the summit.
TERRAIN: Mainly grassy with the occasional rocky section.
ACCESSIBILITY: The usual route is from the car park (small charge) at the road end of Glen Clova at Glen Doll and up the Kilbo Path (two miles). A much longer and quieter route climbs up the south side from Glen Prosen, or up the other side of the Kilbo Path from the head of the glen which reaches the col (both routes five to six miles).
NAVIGATION: The path makes route finding in mist easier, but the summit area is pathless.
DANGER: It is possible to reach the summit by the Winter Corrie route, but only for experienced rock climbers.
