Moriviví is a collective of young female artists, located in Santurce, PR. They specialize in the creation of murals that focus on the human condition. "Remaining in Puerto Rico" is a glimpse of life in urban Puerto Rico.
On the right hand side of the mural you are looking through a window inside a brick apartment apartment building. A mother and her son are busy with routine chores. The son using a ceramic pitcher to water plants in a window box. His mother is seated behind him looking down on her clenched hands as if she is treading a needle.
On the left side is a cityscape of tall buildings. A sign post has three directional signs. They are inscribed:
Brincar el Charco - literally Jumping the Pond a slang expression for leaving Puerto Rico.
Pedacito de Tierra - Little Piece of Land referring the the Island of Puerto Rico
Colectivo Morivivi - the name of the group of artists.
A close line in the foreground is hung with newspapers instead of clothing. The headlines read:
